The one common thread amongst 99.9999% of stressed and depressed people is high levels of negative emotional arousal. This is what makes you feel like sh*t and this taints your every thought. Things that seem utterly rational when you are in a highly emotional state seem laughably incorrect when you are more relaxed. Please try the following for reducing emotional arousal ASAP:

1) 7-11 Breathing
Breathe in to the count of 7 and out more slowly to the count of 11. The breaths should be comfortable (i.e. not straining to reach the numbers).

5) Less introspection time
Keep busy and distract yourself from negative and stress producing thoughts no matter how hard it seems. Meet up with friends, family, throw yourself into housework, studying, your job etc. Make yourself so busy that your internal voice doesn鈥檛 have time to worry because it is too busy thinking about other things.
